Dear all,

Can someone help and give me a interpretation of "Manufacturer" and "Fabricator", because I am not English speaking.

Sometimes, we use these two words alternatively in the same meaning. But some Codes imply there is difference from context.

Thanks.

Hello, DK,

refering to ASME IX, AWS D1.1 PQR testing responsibility contents, Manufacturer and Fabricator are used together. I thought there may be some difference between two words.

Function scope? I am not sure.

I am not an AWS guy, sorry.
In ASME Code, Manufacturer has the full responsibility of the product, including design, while fabricator is only responsible for the fabrication, excluding design.

Allen,
AWS deals with the Engineer ( Owner or Owners representative) and the Contractor ( Manufacturer or fabricator)
Hope that helps,
Regards,
BB
