Hi everybody! If I qualify a welder SMAW in a plate with T= 13.0 mm and t=13.0 mm of weld metal, would the welder be qualified to weld any thickness of weld metal or only the thickness of weld metal qualified by the WPS in which the welder is qualified for? My doubt is about the statement " Maximum to be welded" in t => 13.0 mm.
a hug,
Norberto

Once you welded the plate with a minimum 3 layers of filler metal, you are qualified to weld plate with any thickness. Otherwise, <=2t.
