Dear Gentlemen:
i am now getting confused about the last few lines of UHA-8(a)"these stress values are to be multiplied by the casting quality factor of UG-24."
why need to mulitiply the fator, since this is general requirement of UHA, not appplied only to casting. could anybody explain it to me ?many thanks to you all for your help!

Fred,
The requirements of UHA-8 are only applicable to castings, tiltle of UHA-8 is a little confusing, it is better if the tiltle were "Steel Castings". The counterparts of UHA-8 are UCS-8 and UNF-8 in Subsection C for UCS and UNF, the wording of these paragraphs are almost the same as that of UHA-8.
I like to add further, casting quality factor for UCI and UCD materials is assumed equal to 1 because of conservative allowable stress basis for these materials.
Hope it helps a little.
