Dear all,

I've had the chance to see a welder's cualification certificate acording to ASME IX.
It was dated on 2009. Is it currently updated? How often is necessary to carry out a cualification?
I am not get used to in welding topics.
Best regards,

leihotikan,
If you are reviewing ASME IX welder qualifications you should have a copy of ASME IX.
Look at QW 322.1
Regards,
BB

Ok, so as far as i understand QW 322.1. If you dont interrupt welding during 6 months or you do not have other evidence of doubt of welder's hability, is not necessary to renovate?

Code does not specify who has authority.

The welder him/herself, a leadman, inspector or anyone can sign off that the welder has used the welding process within the past 6 mos.

It is up to the employer to accept the welder currency log or in most cases of new hires, just test the welder in that if welder is new hire he must test to the employer's qualified WPS.

As QA Manager I systematically update our welder's every 5 mos to stay current by visually verifying that they are using the welding process for which they were originally qualified. I have Currency Log Book dating back to 1998.
