Dear reader
I have to test a welder who joined our company recently. The approved WPS of our company is done by third party. For Testing and qualifying him whether a third party involvement is required or Can i (QA/QC) do the testing, Since i qualified for NDT level 2 and can read the Radiographic Xray. Since I supposed to test in Groove welding in a plate of 15mm thickness of material P1 I feel RT test is sufficient apart from Visual welding Inspection as per QW305.
Thank You

Dear Azar,

If the Welding Procedure has been approved previously, you only need the new welder to be approved by Visual & Radiography Test. However, while welding he must maintain the parameters as per earlier approved WPS.

Third Party Involvement is not necessary as per code. But it is preferable, since your present or future client will have more faith on report endorsed by third party, than the one endorsed by only manufacturer.
