Weld map must contain all weld seams related to pressure retaining items in particular vessels. Table mentioning relaed weld seam number and applicable WPS alo should be incorporated.

Many AI and Team Leaders insist to give weld numbers to all weld seams irrespective it is of pressure retaining items or not. Construcion Codes as well as Section IX is silent on this issue.

As I said earlier, Construction Code such as Section VIII is silent on it. You need to confirm requirements of Div 2 since it cotains much greater NDE as compared to Div 1.

Weld Summery Sheet is mandetory to keep track of WPQ validity. Hence weld map becomes important tool to make summery sheet.

I hope this answers your query.

Our weld map (scetch of vessel w/ weld seams & nozzles numbered) that is included in the Traveler states:
.1) Weld Joint ID (and description)
.2) WPS#
.3) Welder ID
.4) Fit Up (QC & date) (A.I. & date)
.5) Final Weld (QC & date) (A.I. & date)
