 Post subject: WELDING PROCESS

DEAR ALL,

I have make one WPS & PQR 10 mm thk. of 2 mm GTAW & 8 mm SMAW. when i weld a job what range for GTAW & what Range for SMAW. In addition in prodution welding Only GTAW welding is there or Only SMAW welding is there. Is there this procedure is qualify or not?

Hi there,

Frankly to say, I am not quite sure about your question. If you are asking for the WPS qualification, please take a look at QW-451.2. Your overall base metal range will be 1.5~20. For filler metal, GTAW range is 1.5~4; SMAW range is 1.5~16. You can use them both or use one process only.

Hi,

Tony, your reply is correct, except when Impact testing is required, the thickness limits need a revision.
In general, each process can be used in the limits of qualification.
