It's never been apparently clear to me when a "U" or "UM" stamp is required.
Can someone please provide an answer on this.

We have a vessel with the following specs:

- Location Clayton, North Carolina
- Media: Water
- 8.625" diameter vessel
- Volume:12 Liters
- Design Pressure: 150/FV Psig
- Design Temperature: 204° F

Based on what you describe, this vessel is exempt from stamping. See U-1(f)
