Hi, dear buddies,
I want to become ASME AI, and do not know the examination scope on ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, in which many sections and subsections, which ones must be known-well/familiar, and which ones just understanded?

I am waiting for your kindly replying.

Dear Sir,
to become an Authorized Inspector you must be an employee of an ASME accredited Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA).

You must participate the "A" course (2 weeks) in Columbus, Ohio.

This "A" course is designed for individuals who hold a National Board commission and intend to perform shop inspection of objects to be constructed to the ASME Code. It is not necessary, however, to hold a commission in order to attend this course.
In order to be issued an "A" endorsement to the National Board commission, the National Board's Rules for Commissioned Inspectors require the authorized inspector to attend the National Board's "A" endorsement course. An examination for the endorsement is administered at the conclusion of this two-week course. The authorized inspector must also receive 80 hours of on-the-job training in ASME shop, fabrication, and inspection.

The purpose of the course is to acquaint the attendee with the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Sections I, IV, V, VIII (Div. 1 and 2), IX, X, and B31.1.

Best regards

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much.
And I also want to know how to study these heavy and complicated codes in which there are too many kinds of contents in relation to mat'l / design / caculations / testing / inspection / wps / pqr / wpq and so on.
Could anyone tell me which will be examed closedly, and which can open the book to read during examination?

Any reply will be appreciated and said thanks very much.

Hi flighter,
just look at www.nationalboard.org. They got all kind of assistance material, like body of knowledge, courses for preparation, etc.

Who is your agency? maybe they have experience?

Take care
DK
