Hello,everybody

I met a question recently regarding the WPS used for the non-nuclear safety weld.

it is a extension pipe connecting the penetration sleeve, and it is specified as a non-nuclear safety weld in the design specification.

so the first question is : which standard i should refer to prepare a WPS and weld this non-nuclear safety
weld. I am thinking if i can refer to ASME B31.1.
the second question is :I don't know if that pipe has a impact toughness requirement, so i can't decide
if the G.No should also in accordance with supported PQR.
It‘s a Little bit urgency, can u give me some advice? appreciate it !!

Dephy,

I think the question shows that there seem to be some servere problems in the specification, or in reading the specification, or somewhere else in the project QA System.

My best advice to your urgent question: Urgently seek professional help. Better at your desk than in a forum.

An experienced ANI could help, but better contact the responsible for the project and point on the chapter "indoctrination and training" in the QA Manual. Anybody performing or managing activities affecting quality shall receive training commensurate with the complexity of the activities, to achieve initial proficiency, and to maintain it.
This is one of the cornerstones of Nuclear QA. Letting somebody develop a WPS without sufficient background information and knowledge and training is not very nice. This is why Jon is scared, i asume.

Your assumption is absolutely correct, Dr. Koelbl.

I am sympathetic to the person writing and truly not scared of him, but rather the system or organization that has obviously placed him in a situation where he is seemingly far over his head; with absolutely no intent to insult to the person as I say this.

Man,you need to calm down first, you maybe have taken a preconceived attitude to the issue that i mentioned!!!

you know?the impact toughtness requirement will be found in the other ASME code except the ASME section Ⅸ,And now the situation is that "the other ASME code" is not specified for that non-nuclear safty weld I mentioned .
